🖋️ E-signatures
- See signing progress at a glance — The requests list now has a Signatures column showing how many signers have finished (e.g. 2/3) with a progress bar, and you can sort by it to surface the requests closest to done.
- You can see it in action in Requesting E-Signatures.
- Send reminders to any email on file — When resending an e-signature reminder, pick from a dropdown of all the client's email addresses instead of just their primary one, and confirm which address it went to.
- To see the full outline, visit our Sending Reminders for Signature article!
- Change signers on an active e-sign task — Swap out who's signing after documents are already uploaded. Truss reuses your files and field placements, sends fresh signing links, and cleans up the old request automatically.
-
- See it in our new Changing Signers for E-Signature article.
👥 Contacts & Entities
- Clearer "info updated" notifications — When a contact or entity record changes, the notification now lists exactly what changed — each field added, removed, or updated, with old and new values — so you don't have to dig through audit logs.
-
- See it in our Notifications article.
🗝️ Client Access & Portal
- Preview the client portal as your client sees it — On any contact's page, choose Preview Portal to see exactly what the client sees. It's read-only, so there's no risk of changing their data by accident. You can also grab a shareable portal link from the same menu.
- You can see this in the Accessing a Client's Portal article.
- Backup code for clients who can't get a text — When a client can't receive SMS codes, generate a single-use 6-digit code and read it to them over the phone. It expires in 10 minutes and is logged in the project's Activity Feed.
- Client Project Access Options has more on the subject!
- Hide draft projects from clients — Keep draft-tagged projects out of clients' view; they see a friendly "we're making a few updates" message instead. Your team keeps working on them normally until you're ready to share with the client!
- Download just the files you need from a drop-off — Select specific files in a drop-off notification and download them as a zip, alongside the existing Download All. Downloading also marks the notification as read.
- Check out the feature in our Notifications article.
📜 Documents & Workpapers
- Delete pages in bulk — In the workpaper viewer's Edit Mode, Ctrl/Cmd-click to pick individual pages or Shift-click for a range, then remove them all at once.
- See all the functionality for Workpapers in our Workpaper Editing article.
- No more duplicate filenames in workpapers — When generating a workpaper, Truss flags files that share a name and suggests a date-stamped rename you can edit inline — keeping PDF bookmarks accurate.
- Get a view of the process in Using Workpaper Mode or Update Workpapers.
- Targeted auto-sort for Drive folders — Choose specific entities to sort instead of running on everything. Targeted runs are badged with the entities you picked. Default document categories were also refreshed and expanded.
- To learn about it, visit our Drive Auto-Sort article.
⚙️ Projects & Settings
- Link an entity while creating a project — The assembly-upload workflow now has an optional Entity step: pick an existing entity or create one on the fly. Truss links it to the project and seeds its contacts into the recipient list. Skip it and everything works as before.
- Delivering Completed Returns has a view of where to find the feature!
- Opt out of personal inbox syncing — A new Do not sync my inbox emails to Truss checkbox in your user settings keeps your personal emails out of Truss.
- Check this out in our new My Settings article.
- Minute-level scheduling for emails — Schedule sends at :00, :15, :30, or :45 instead of only on the hour.
🚀 Tax Prep
- Smarter prior-year return prefill — Starting a new 1040 project now auto-finds last year's completed 1040 for the same entity and pre-populates the Prior Year Tax Return section.

- See what changed before you submit a Prep — Starting a Truss Prep pulls in the latest data from uploaded documents (W-2s, K-1s, Schedules) and recalculates complexity so pricing stays accurate. A change-highlight panel flags anything different from last year (e.g. "W-2s: 3 → 4").

- Clearer taxpayer ID mismatch alerts — Truss now catches both EIN and SSN mismatches when a document's taxpayer ID doesn't match its project, ignores obvious placeholder SSNs to cut false alarms, and shows tooltip details on exactly what didn't line up.
